We welcome open participation by pet teams certified in all national programs including Delta Society, Therapy Dogs International, Therapy Dogs Inc and those completing successful Canine Good Citizen Certification.

We also welcome pet visitation volunteers who may not own a pet. These volunteers are encouraged to assist our program by taking appropriate shelter pets to promote pet visitation to assist the Humane Society in advancing our Humane Education programs while promoting community service through the use of companion animals.

All training and working teams are assisted by a network of professional dog trainers through the Humane Society’s SWFL Professional Dog Trainers Alliance program and are supported by the Paws for Love program protocols. 
In addition, teams must complete the Humane Society’s volunteer training program.
